Here is my Paddy Wagon which will be known from here on out as the Peace Wagon. I started out building a Pro Street version but got sidetracked as I often do so many times. I still have a Pro Street version on the table along with a few others that this project has spawned. This is my first attempt at building the TD version. As a young’n I built Carl’s version which is my favorite (sorry Tom). Though I must admit this kit has so many possibilities when you start mess’n with it that it’s hard to stop. I started out like I said with a P/S theme in mind and I some where got sidetracked. The other main parts source of this bash is the Beverly Hillbillies Hot Rod. The Vampire Van also contributed some of it’s parts as did the Boot Hill Express, Ala-Kart. The hood sides are from Revells’ 26 Ford Sedan, the running board pads are made from the bed cover of the AMT 59 El Camino. The hood ornament is cut down from the original PW model.(I have another one I'm working on to replace it.) The windshield was cut down and narrowed using a rear side glass from the Vampire Van.
The gas filler and exaust tips are made from aluminum tubing and the gas cap came from one of my parts drawers. The spot mirror is a milled aluminum piece from Scale Repro’s Plus. I just could not find a kit supplied one that looked right on this build. The front bumper is just a piece of chrome sprue. The headlights are from the parts drawer also. I frenched them since they were so deep anyway, they are mounted on one of the bars from the Vampire Van as also the 4 entry bars are too. The interior has been treated to an assortment of color with Ken’s Kustom Fuzzi-Fur. I modified the original front seat to make it fit since the body is slightly more narrow toward the bottom, I also cut the center down to resemble bucket style seats. Rear side windows are tinted with Ira Dahm’s infamous window tint. The carpet is from an Audi A4 which we recently fixed at work. It was a small roll of black carpet like material that Audi sent us when we ordered the parts for the car, I thought, hey this looks kinda like scale carpeting. Works for me. The color is a mix I did at work with our PPG mixing system, I just made it up as I went so I don't know what it is. I tried to mix something close to one of the old Hotwheels colors. This is what I came up with.
The main reason I built this kit this was when I got my first set of Richard Carroll tires from our good friend Joe Demicoli I just wanted to use them on something. A big THANKS to Tim Nolan and Joe for bringing us these tires back so that we can have some fun with them. I widened the wheels from the BH truck using 2 sets of the wide wheels that come in the AMT/RC2 Dodge Daytona kits. This was such an enjoyable build I kinda hated to see it finished. Though I do have a couple of things I may change. It's not perfect mind you but remember it's only a model and I had fun buliding it.
On to the others now. Maybe this can become an annual contest?
