i am posting these pics. for tim nolan. this is his paddy wagon for the contest. here's tims description on the build. had been wanting to do a drag car, so this contest gave me a chance to kitbash a showrod into a dragster of sorts. I started out by cutting the body pretty much in half lengthwise, then gluing the fenders back to the body sides. I wanted it really low, so this achieved most of the stance. The rest was done by dropping the rear end down by cutting the springs and chassis down. The rear axle was fabricated from the kit axle center and drive shaft, and aluminum tubing. The interior cell wall was cut down, and moved to form a back body wall. The front cowl and dash area were cut down, and the dash insert was grafted to a fabricated base and moved back. The windshield from the parts box. A photoetched guage panel was added with photoreduced guages with epoxy faces. The steering shaft was made from aluminum tube. The driver/seat from the Stinger dragster was used. Kit shifter and brake handle, water tank/fire bottle from the S’Cool bus, and a parts bin tach with some detail added round out the bare interior. All of the interior tufted panels were sprayed with HOK Lapis Blue microflake basecoat, clear coated with some rainbow sparkles. The rest of the car was airbrushed in HOK Kandy Oriental Blue over a silver mciroflake base. The roof was shot with the dry flake gun in blue sparkle flake. I used the hemi drag motor from the Stinger dragster, adding a milled distrib and plug lines/boots. The headers were drilled out. I added some carbs donated by our own Honest Charlie, topped of with some velocity stacks made from a couple of those “Keystone Kops” hats that came with the Paddy kits! I used the billy clubs from the kit as part of the front suspension! The parts bin Moon tank sits on a transparent blue base made from a retro trike window. Rims and tires came from the bins as well, twin chutes hangin’ out back are from the Stinger with handmade lines. Most of the other assorted detail parts came from the Paddy Wagon kit itself. This was a fun build, but I did have some problems with orange peel in the paint, and the body had some warpage problems typical of this kit.
